Solid Waste & Recycling

People produce waste.  This can be a wide range of things such as empty wrappers from a food to trimmings from the yard to broken parts from your car. What we do with our waste strongly effects the environment.

If waste is not properly disposed of it could end up in our drinking water or in a land fill. Thinking before you throw something away is crucial in making sure our waste doesn’t end up in the wrong place.

The City of Indianapolis has many programs to make sure citizens recycle and  properly dispose of their waste.

The City of Indianapolis programs include:

Drop-off recycling program

Large green containers placed around city to collect residential recycling waste.
