Quality of Life

Quality of life in Indianapolis means clean air and water and providing residents transportation options and easy access to jobs, services and greenspaces close to their homes.  Increasing mobility by giving people easy access to public transportation, bike lanes and pedestrian routes will reduce our city’s oil use and energy dependence in the future,  while improving air quality, commuting efficiency and public health. In addition to these benefits, maintaining and improving quality of life is also important for economic development because it attracts a talented workforce that will help Indianapolis remain competitive nationally.

Public amenities that comprise our city’s quality of life include a diverse and growing number of transportation options, parks, greenspaces and greenways, and farmer’s markets.  These amenities make Indianapolis neighborhoods unique places to live, work and play.
