Do you have more than two items of heavy trash to dispose of each month? Haul them to the Marion County Citizens' Transfer Station located at 2700 S. Belmont Ave., which is open nearly every Saturday from 8am to 4pm.

The cost to drop-off a safely-loaded car-load is $2.00; the cost is $5.00 for a pickup truck load. All items must be within your one vehicle - trailer loads will not be accepted. Only regular or heavy trash items will be accepted at the transfer station. Items such as construction materials should be reused if possible or land-filled as a last resort.

 The most common allowable heavy trash items are:

* Household furnishings such as couches, desks, tables, chairs, dressers.
* Appliances that do not contain any Freon-gas refrigerant such as televisions,
stoves, water heaters, water softeners. Freon-containing appliances require
special handling.
* Disassembled bicycles and swing sets.
* Automobile/truck tires mounted on their rims/wheels.
* Lawnmowers, as long as they have been drained of all gas and oil.
