About Indy's Bicycling Initiative
The Indy BikeWays plan will eventually create more than 200 miles of bike lanes across the City over the next 15 years.
Indianapolis is a "Bicycle-Friendly Community" as recognized by the League of American Bicyclists.
- According to the League of American Bicyclists, a Bicycle-Friendly Community welcomes cyclists by providing safe accommodation for cycling and encouraging people to bike for transportation and recreation.
- In a community that is safe, convenient, and pleasant for bicycling, more people choose to bicycle for recreation and transportation. This helps improve fitness, health, and air quality, and creates a greater sense of community.
