Currently, the City of Indianapolis has 22.77 miles of on-street bike lanes. The New York/Michigan Street and Allisonville Road bike lanes were developed under a Federal Transportation Enhancement Grant while the Westlane Road, 52nd Street, Allison Pointe, East Street and Ritter Avenue bike lanes were included as part of our resurfacing program. Southeastern Avenue was part of a sanitary sewer project. *11/23/2009

The City has planned for an additional 29.82 miles of on-street bike lanes over the next two years. The Illinois Street (short segment) bike lanes were developed through a Federal funding and Southeastern Avenue bike lanes through the City's sanitary sewer section construction projects. The Illinois Street/Capitol Avenue, Lafayette Road, Madison Avenue/Shelby Street and Broad Ripple Avenue segments have not been funded to this point but potential sources have been identified and are being pursued.
