Launched in October 2008, SustainIndy is Mayor Ballard's bold and innovative enterprise aimed at delivering long-term cost savings to the City, building the local economy, improving our quality of life and enhancing our environmental and public health. Its efforts are designed to aggressively move Indianapolis forward in making it one of the most sustainable cities in the Midwest.

SustainIndy is designed to aggressively move Indianapolis towards being a more sustainable city. It is an action-based and focused on reducing the environmental impact of city operations and working with private partners to ensure that our community remains vibrant and healthy for many future generations of Indianapolis residents.  SustainIndy also incorporates elements of green economic development.

SustainIndy is led by the City’s Office of Sustainability.
